In April 1980 Belinda Begley married Neil Begley, the author of Vanuatu 1972 – 1981 When Three Cultures Collide and went to live with him at Port Vila in the New Hebrides. On 24 June 1980 she was admitted as a barrister and solicitor of the High Court of the New Hebrides. In October 1980 she began work as Deputy Parquet General/Public Prosecutor for the Republic of Vanuatu. In 1981 Belinda and Neil returned to Brisbane, Australia where they continue to reside.
